Osun State House of Assembly
Following several crises and accusations against the ongoing staff audit ordered by GovernorAdemola Adeleke, the Osun Assembly on Monday suspended the exercise indefinitely.
It would be recalledthat several workers’ unions had protested against alleged harassment and humiliation by the consultant handling the exercises in the past few weeks which led to altercations at the venue of the exercise.
The staff of Osun State University had on Friday protested against the exercise over alleged harassment, thereby disrupting the exercise and demanded an apology.
In recent developments, the Osun State House of Assembly after an emergency meeting held on Monday among the lawmakers, suspended the exercise indefinitely over a series of allegations against the consultant, Sa’adat Bakrin-Ottun handling the audit.
A statement by the press secretary, Olamide Tiamiyu to Osun state speaker, Adewale Egbedun stated that the Assembly has directed the consultant handling the staff audit of workers in the employment of the State Government, Sally Tibbot Consulting, to suspend the process until further notice.
He noted that: “The directive of the House was conveyed after an emergency meeting with other members to review the petitions written against the consultant to the Osun State House of Assembly.
“The Speaker further constituted an ad-hoc committee to look into the issues around the petition and come up with necessary recommendations. Consequently, all relevant stakeholders have been invited to the House of Assembly for a meeting on Tuesday 22nd August by 10.00 am prompt.”(The Nation)
