The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) in collaboration with Abuja Film Village (AFV) and I am the Future of Nigeria Youth Initiative, an NGO, has commencedits audition and mentorship programme forbudding talents in Nigerian universities.
The President of AGN, Emeka Rollas, said this on Sunday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
According to him, the initiative is to discover budding talents who will feature in some of the films for premiere at the maiden edition of Youth Educational Film Festival (YEFF) scheduled to hold this year.
He said the pilot phase of the undergraduates acting audition and filmmaking training was held over the weekend at the Nasarawa State University, with a large turnout of students aspiring to be actors and in attendance.
We are taking thisprogramme touniversity campuses in bid to contribute our quota towards nation-building through media and film-based literacy awareness content to sensitise, educate and empower our youths.
In line with that objective, the Youth Educational Film Festival (YEFF) held an acting audition and filmmaking training at the Nasarawa State University on July 14, 2023.
It is aimed at providing a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and learn from seasoned professionals in the industry.
It also offers an opportunity for the participants to learn and to produce films that will be featured at the YEFF holding at the International Conference Center, Abuja on Sept. 1 and 2, 2023.
The film festival is aimed at galvanising Nigerian youths through creative and educational contents that will help sensitise and inspire them towards making positive contributions to the development of Nigeria, he said.
The AGN boss said as key industry players, the body was ready for partnerships between the industry and academia in developing the arts and ensuring that young talents were offered necessary support to succeed.
He said the authorities of the Nasarawa State University had expressed willingness to continue to partnering with them in areas that would build capacity of students and members of staff. (Via NAN)
