Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State has again upheld the use of concrete road technology in tackling the challenges of roads in the South East Zone.

While commissioning a Housing Estate constructed by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria in partnership with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLG), Trade Union Congress and (TUC) Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association under the National Affordable Housing Delivery Programme for Nigerian Workers at Ugwuachara in Abakaliki, Thursday, the governor recommended the technology and said it was the best.

Governor Umahi while commending the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Mrs. Chioma Nweze, for her diligent supervision of the project which ensured its realization, lauded the Federal Mortgage Bank for delivering the project in the best of quality.

“Concrete road is the answer to our problems in the South East.

“This is a very decent job, I thank you very much, if we can do this then the confidence in Government would be restored.

“A shelter over our heads will give us comfort and give us sense of belonging,” he said.

The Group Managing Director, COPEN Group, the contractors who handled the project, Mr. Ugochukwu Chime commended Governor Umahi for his commitment.

He said: “I wish to particularly thank the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Dr. David Nweze Umahi, for his avowed determination and unyielding commitment and drive towards this project.

“The aim of the collaboration is to ensure that each participating stakeholder contributes something towards ensuring affordability and availability of shelter for our people. Bravo to us all. This success story will embolden us to ideate, initiate and execute other worthy mutually beneficial engagements toward delivering the democracy dividends to our people.

“We will be stating the obvious when we say that Ebonyi State is blessed with the most transformational governor in Nigeria. The People's Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Dave Nweze Umahi, has administered and transformed Ebonyi State with unusual devotion and unflinching commitment to better the lives of Ndi Ebonyi.

“I believe that Ebonyi State workers and people have not had it as good as they have it under the administration of Governor Umahi. Promoting the welfare of workers in this state has not prevented our governor from touching the lives of all the residents of Ebonyi by the huge value engineering efforts in relentlessly extending the state's infrastructure backbone.”

Representative of the Executive Director, Business Development and Portfolio Management, Mr Kingsley Chukwuma said the ninety housing units were achieved through the effective partnership between the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Federal Mortgage Bank. He said with such a partnership going forward, development could be attained.
