FCT Minister Mohammed Bello
An appeal has gone to the FCT Minister Mohammed Bello, and the Minister of State, Ramatu Aliyu to call the Gwagwalada Council Chairman, Abu Giri's flare of grabbing people's land all in the name of area council property to order.
The alleged Land grabbing exercise carried out by the chairman was without recourse to title documents, indigenization policy and others requirements.
The group Gwagwalada Concerns Residents (GCR) under the leadership of Ahmodu Mamman said corporate and individual lands within the perimeter of the area council are being confiscated, encroached and sold outrightly, or under Lease and Build, Operate and Sell.
He warned on the consequences of breaking down of law and order, if the council chairman and his agents’ action persists.
He recalled how some shops built many years ago were sold under the guise of contractual agreement, while shops are built directly in front of shops of local owners, discouraging occupants in the old shops.
“His actions also portend a lot of danger to both pedestrians and motorists and could trigger unabated crises in the town,” GCR said.
It warned that the council chairman’s conduct “will clearly work against the chances of the party in the forthcoming general elections.”
