Nasarawa State Hospitals Management Board has organised a one-day orientation meeting for SERVICOM field officers for 17 General Hospitals across the state.

The meeting was organised to sensitise the selected SERVICOM field officers on their roles to the organization and clients at the facilities.

In his welcome address, the chairman of HMB SERVICOM, Dr. Egba Edego, who is the Chief Medical Director, HMB, while welcoming all participants, noted that SERVICOM was all about doing things right, good leadership, ensuring diligence and making sure clients’ rights were not jeopardized. He said SERVICOM started in 2004 from the federal level and all government organizations were asked to domesticate it for service efficiency. He therefore told the field officers to see themselves as watchdogs of the organization.

The Tuesday, December 20, meeting was held at the board headquarters, along Shendam Road, Lafia.

The Nodal Officer of SERVICOM, Mr. Shuaibu Santali, who is also the Deputy Director Pharmaceutical Services of Nasarawa State Hospitals Management Board, spoke extensively on highlights of the SERVICOM project in HMB. He stressed that the field officers should work closely with their Medical Superintendents in charge and other heads of departments, reiterating that they should conduct step down to other staff in their various facilities, appealing to them to be patient to enable the project succeed as it will benefit everyone.

He further disclosed that more trainings would be organized for them to properly equip them for the task ahead and more staff assigned roles as time progressed since the SERVICOM project entailed recruiting staff mainly for it to be properly managed.

Similarly, the HMB SERVICOM Secretary, Grace Wado, a Senior Administrative Staff and Head of Open Registry, took participants through the Ethics and Etiquettes of work place, while the Nodal officer professional handled the interactive session with participants where questions were asked and answers proffered accordingly.

In addition, the Head of Audit of HMB, Mr. James Umoru, and Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mrs. Maryann Sulieman, gave vote of thanks and advised participants to be honest, committed and focused to ensure successful implementation of the SERVICOM project.
