NASC Executive Chairman, Engr Ahmed Kadi Amshi, receiving the award from PACA chiefs
A Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity, and Justice (PACA) has honoured the Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Engr Ahmed Kadi Amshi, with the Most Outstanding and Transparent Public Officer of the Year 2022 in Nigeria award.
Presenting the award to Engr Amshi in his office at Utako on Thursday, December 22, 2022, the National Co-ordinator. of the group, Comrade James Okoronkwo, explained that the award was in recognition of the “sterling and transparent accomplishment of the NASC boss in enhancing the capacity of the National Assembly thereby strengthening democracy in Nigeria.”
According to Comrade Okoronkwo, PACA had undertaken an indepth assessment of the performances of over 300 Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Nigeria and came to the conclusion that Engr Amshi be conferred with the award as he stood out as the “Outstanding and Transparent Public Officer of the Year 2022.”
He added that apart from celebrating Engr. Amshi for the feat, the award was also meant to document his landmark achievements for posterity.
He lauded the Commission for prioritising capacity building of its staff and legislative aides in the National Assembly and for the rapid progress in the building of the NASC office complex.
He therefore called for an increased budgetary allocation to the Commission to accomplish its objectives.
Receiving the award, Engr Amshi noted that he had rejected over 15 awards by CSOs since he assumed office at the Commission but had to accept the one from PACA because he had seen the good work and positive antecedents of the group in promoting excellence and good governance in the country.
He added that the Commission would co-operate with well-meaning CSOs in building a better society for all.
