Director-General of National Productivity Center (NPC), Dr (Chief) Kashim Akor, has hailed the progress made so far on the ongoing work by Odake Engineering, the contractor in charge of the internal roads connecting Oluboojo community in Ankpa town.

Chief Akor on Wednesday, stated this during an inspection of the ongoing road project, saying the compliance to job specifications by the contractor was quite encouraging.

He said the gully erosion washed away a section of the road, leaving residents of the community and neighboring villages to be cut off from other communities and assured that the people would soon taste a new lease of life as the road would soon be completed.

The NPC helmsman appealed to the people of Ankpa, the communities and linkage areas to cooperate with the contractor to ensure early completion of the road before the rainy season.

He said to protect the road from being washed away by erosion in future, drains would be built for channelling of floods into a large channel located around the road to St Charles College, Ankpa for easy control and evacuation of floods.

He said this way, erosion-prone communities would be protected.

Earlier, the chief Engineer of the company, Dr Olufu’milayo Abiodun, had told Akor that the 12-metre gully erosion would be controlled and the affected area would be recovered.

Engr Funmilayo noted that the road rehabilitation facilitated by Dr Akor would give the community and the entire Ankpa local government headquarters a facelift.

He assured the NPC Director-General of quality work and timely completion of the road, while appealing to him to continue to patronize indigenous contractors.

The Chief Engineer commended Akor for his interest in the development of Ankpa.
