Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has described Sunday’s attack on the convoy of the Senator Ifeanyi Ubahas politically sponsored.

Ubah’s convoy was attacked at Nkwo Enugwu-Ukwu market by gunmen who killed two of his personal aides and some security details.

Reacting to the incident yesterday, the leadership of MASSOB said the attack was a political hatchet job by highly placed political foes against Ubah and other people oriented political leaders across the country.

MASSOB, therefore, advised Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi;GovernorsNyeson Wike and Samuel Ortom of Rivers and Benue states respectively; Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Matthew Kukah, Aisha Yesufu, among others to redouble and re-strategise their security routine apparatus.

The group, in a statement by its leader, Uchenna Madu, condemned what it called “insensitive, barbaric and unwarranted attack and killings” of members of Senator Ubah’s convoy.

“MASSOB described this criminal acts of genocide as a sponsored political killing by highly placed political foes. The political cabals sifting the economy and wealth of Nigeria are not comfortable that a positive change that will abolish their illicit and corrupt means of embezzling the wealth of Nigeria is about taken over, hence they are sponsoring political assassination of eloquent and outspoken political leaders who are notin their evil and corrupt wagon. MASSOB has earlier warned about the incoming political assassination attempts before the 2023 general election but we were ignored.”

The group however,exonerated pro-Biafra agitators from the attack, which it further described as unwarranted assassination attack, stressing that “it is being sponsored by powerful political cabals that have ruined the economy of the country.”(Daily Sun:Text, excluding headline)
