Security has been tightened across the17 local government areas of Abia State ahead of the scheduled sit-at-home order of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Tuesday for its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is expected to appear in court for trial.

According to the sources, the beefing of security around the state was a routine exercise aimed at sustaining peace in the State.
Residents on Monday partially observed the usual sit-at-home order of the IPOB.
Checks in Aba, the commercial nerve of the state and Umuahia, the state capital showed there were partial economic activities in the two cities.
There were human and vehicular movements in Aba and Umuahia with few transport companies out for services.
Major markets, banks and other public institutions remained closed except for a few roadside markets where some of the residents picked urgent groceries. (The Nation)
