The Chief Medical Director of Benin Medical Care Hospital, Dr Oluwagbemiga Durojaiye
By JOY ODIGIE
The management of Benin Medical Care Hospital, owned by the Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO), is set to conduct a three-day free eye check for residents of Edo.
Dr. Oluwagbemiga Durojaiye, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital said this in Benin on Tuesday while giving a brief about the hospital.
He said that the Eye and Health Assessment Clinic Unit of the hospital would be inaugurated on Thursday.
According to him, the free eye examination is a way to improve early detection of eye diseases.
He said the hospital’s eye clinic would render among other services, low vision care, especially for Persons with Albinism.
Durojaiye said the health assessment clinic would help in addressing the health challenges in the country as it would promote prevention and early detection of diseases.
He said prevention as well as early detection of diseases were not only cheaper than care, but also ensure greater success of intervention.
Durojaiye also said that hospitals in the country could reduce medical tourism through staff engagement and motivation as well as the use of cutting edge medical equipment. (NAN)
