Jakadan Sokoto and former Kogi Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has sent a message of congratulations to His Eminence, Alhaji Mohammed Sa’ad Abubbakar III on his 66th birthday.

In a message of congratulations to the spiritual leader, the former Kogi Governor commended his roles in uniting Nigerians irrespective of religion, creed and extraction.

He noted that the Sultan’s “voice of wisdom and advice” had repeatedly doused tension in the country.

Idris appealed to the Sultan “to sustain the zeal with prayers”, stating that his voice and that of his colleagues in other religions “is mostly and continuously needed at this point in time in Nigeria”.

The Jakadan Sokoto wished the Sultan of Sokoto and the Islamic spiritual leader of Nigeria and his subjects a happy celebration, wishing him many more years of selfless and humanitarian services.

In another development, Ex-Governor Idris has sent condolence messages to former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, who recently lost his step mother, and Usman Bature, Peoples Democratic Party National Organizing Secretary, who lost his mother.

A statement personally signed by the former Kogi Governor described the two sad incidents as a great loss to the people of Sokoto State.

He enjoined the two prominent sons of Sokoto State to take solace in the fact that both deceased women “lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation”.

He also commiserated with the people of Sokoto state over the deaths, saying: “From Him we all come, and will definitely return to Him at our appointed time”.
