The All Progresives Grand Alliance (APGA) Stakeholders Forum has called on the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie to gear up towards restructuring the party in order to make it have teeth to bite.
Speaking at a delegates’ conference held in Awka, to discuss issues bothering on APGA organisation, the Chairman of the forum, Chief Sylvester Nwobu Alor described as shameful and indefensible the inability of the party to win in all the five Igbo speaking states despite the love people have for the party attributing it to gross mismanagement by the party leadership.
The six point communiqué issueded at the end of the conference and signed by five representatives from the five south eastern states of Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo and Abia states read in part: “That the conference places solid vote of implicit confidence on our leader, Chief Nwobu Alor, On the able way he has piloted the affairs of the APGA National Stakeholders Forum.
“That the conference regrets immensely the inability of All Progressive Grand Alliance to control Abia, Imo, Enugu, Ebony and full control of Anambra State because of lack of internal democracy, autocracy and injustice which characterised the party leadership.
“That whilst we praise President Goodluck Jonathan for his humane response to his defeat, we appeal to the new President, Muhamadu Buhari to look into and complete the numerous projects abandoned in the south-eastern states by the Federal Government.”
On the new political era in Nigeria, the APGA stake holders Forum chairman said the emergence of Buhari under another party’s leadership was a divine intervention in the checkered history of Nigerian politics adding the country had been pedaling backwards until God intervened.
“What happened was unprecedented and it shows that the hand of the almighty God was there. We are all happy about the change and we want this change to manifest in the development in terms of peace and unity in the country and in terms of corruption that has overtaken the entire nation, scarcity of petroleum and electricity which are all based on corruption.
“Corruption is the bane of what has been happening in our country. I urge the new president to make this change effective by facing corruption squarely. If corruption is stopped, petroleum will flow and light will come on,” he said.
Alor saluted former President Goodluck Jonathan’s courage noting that it was an unprecedented move in the history of Nigeria and in the entire black race.
He also congratulated the new President Buhari and urged him to forgive all the people that may have not supported his ambition in the course of the election and also ensure the enthronement of justice, equity, morality and good conscience in the polity and governance.
The APGA stakeholder also appealed to the president to look into the yet to be completed second Niger Bridge project with a view to completing it to give the easterners a sense of belonging.
