It was a bloody Democracy Day in Borno State, North-East Nigeria, where a twin explosion killed seven people and left dozens injured as the country prepared for the inauguration of a new government.
The incident at about six in the morning during a wedding ceremony in Tashan Alade in Hawul Local Government, a Channels TV report said, recalling that Tashan Alade has come under severe attack from insurgents in recent times.
The report quoted a youth vigilante in Tashan Alade, Ibrahim Saleh, as saying that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident believed to have been perpetrated by Boko Haram insurgents.
Nigeria’s new leader, Muhammadu Buhari, took over from his immediate predecessor Goodluck Jonathan this morning in the country’s capital Abuja with a promise to crush Boko Haram.
