The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has called on the State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to extend his fatherly love to traders of Ogbete and Coal camp markets by opening them up for business.

The group said that reopening of the two major markets in Enugu will help reduce the sufferings citizens are forced to endure following the crippling of their means of livelihood.

A statement made available to journalists in Awka by MASSOB National Director of Information, Comrade Edeson Samuel, said: “His Excellency the governor of Enugu state should know that he is the father of Enugu people, including the traders in New Market, Kenyeta market, Abakpa market, Garki market etc. While other markets in Enugu has been open for businesses, Coal Camp market and Ogbete main market were still remain closed indefinitely.

“MASSOB as a stakeholder in Igbo affairs appeals to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to listen to the cries of the traders in Ogbete and Coal Camp markets.”

The group reminded the governor that there has been excessive hardships, hunger and sufferings of the people as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown in the country.

While urging Ugwuanyi to imitiate his counterparts in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and Imo States, by re-opening all the major markets in Enugu, MASSOB hailed governors of the southeast, political and opinion leaders for their palliative to the people.

It explained that the palliatives apart from helping to eradicate hunger and suffering the people are facing will also revive the economy and ensure social and religious revival.
