Halima Abubakar with miracle baby
Multiple award-winning actress Halima Abubakar shocked the world when she broke the news earlier this week that she delivered a baby boy over the weekend, precisely Friday, April 3, 2020.
Apart from the little hint she made on the social media in November 2019, not many knew that the 35-year-old Sociology graduate from Bayero University was carrying a pregnancy.
The Nollywood actress from Kogi State born in Kano who in 2018 claimed that she was still a virgin took her teeming fans by surprise when she announced the arrival of her baby whom she names Baby M, which some people believe stands for “miracle baby”.
One week after his birth, there are still some secrets enveloping the baby.
Some of the things not known about the baby include who the father is, where he was born and why the pregnancy was kept in the dark.
In an attempt to unravel the secrets, Maggie’s Blog put a call across to the actress who some years ago reportedly contemplated suicide as a result of depression.
Below are excerpts of the phone conversation:
Maggie’s Blog (MB): Hello Halima, congratulations for the arrival of your bundle of joy.
Halima: Thank you very much, Sir. It’s by the grace of God.
MB: Do we assume the baby was delivered abroad?
Halima: (laughs) Not really. Though I was abroad but I had to rush back to Nigeria because of coronavirus.
MB: That means he was born in Nigeria. Would that be Lagos, Abuja or Kogi?
Halima: Lagos
MB: You call the baby simply Baby M. What does the ‘M’ stand for? Is it the initial of his father’s name?
Halima: Well, that is the name I have chosen to give to my baby for now. At the right time, I will name him appropriately.
MB: And how come people did not know about the pregnancy? How did you manage to conceal it from the prying eyes of the public?
Halima: Ah, ah Oga Okim. How long now have you called me on phone? It’s more than 10 years nah (laughs). Besides, I became wise as I learnt from people like the Grandmaster Sunny Okim (prolonged laughter).
Let’s keep our fingers crossed, with the hope that whatever is not known now will be revealed in due course.
