The widely acclaimed Nigeria’s richest actress, Genevieve Nnaji, might have quietly placed herself on self-isolation.

All parameters point to the fact that the 41-year-old Mbaise, Imo State-born movie star who was junketing abroad whole of February and good part of March had suddenly withdrawn from public glare even before the sit-at-home order by government as a result of the ravaging novel coronavirus pandemic.

The actress who holds the national honour Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) is not known for making write-ups on the social media except posting of her photos.

Shortly after the events, she wrote on her Instagram page, “When things don’t add up, subtract”. The next day she posted, “Impossible is not a fact, it’s an opinion”.

On March 8, she posted an animation of two children playing and captioned it, “Together or alone, we are Unstoppable”.

The last post she made after that was a photo of hers walking past a waterside abroad showing a parked jetty on March 15.

Since then, nothing has been heard from the Nollywood diva who in 2009, was referred to as the Julia Roberts of Africa by Oprah Winfrey.

A call placed to her private line some days back rang out. A close colleague who pleaded anonymous corroborated the fact that Genevieve has not been seen in public all through the later part of March, but would not agree that she has gone on self-isolation probably because she has contracted coronavirus.

“I am a close pal of Genevieve. It’s true many of her friends have not seen her since she came back earlier this month (March) including me. But I don’t want to buy into the insinuation that she has caught the virus. She may just be on holiday after all the trips abroad,” said the female colleague.
