There was mild drama as tricycle operators in Gwarimpa waylayed Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, at the entrance road from the Gwarimpa Express way to protest the recent restriction of the popular mode of transport in Abuja estates and suburbs, by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, early Tuesday morning.
The administration had began wholes sale restriction of the popular mode of transport in Abuja alleging that it was fueling crime in the nation’s capital.
As at Tuesday morning, the tricycle operation in Gwarimpa, arguebly Africa’s largest estate and home of the Senate President, transportation hubs like Airport Junction and Life Camp, have all been grounded.
Speaking on the early morning protest, Aliyu Ibrahim Basawa, Tricycle Owners Association, Gwarimpa branch vice chairman and special adviser to the FCT chapter chairman, said that the ban has caused a lot of inconvenience.
