Oshiomhole and Obaseki
Contrary to the widely held notion that Governor Godwin Obaseki and his estranged political godfather, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, have reconciled their differences, one of the APC leaders in Edo South (names withheld) yesterday described the peace meeting as mere political abracadabra, which cannot stand.
Obaseki had during the week revealed that he had met with his predecessor and that efforts were being made to resolve issues created by third parties in the state, stressing that there were no fundamental issues between them. However, the party chieftain noted that the meeting was of no consequence as there was no get-together by stakeholders to resolve the issues that led to the crisis.
The party chieftain who spoke on the condition of anonymity insisted that Oshiomhole and Obaseki couldn’t have reconciled without convening a meeting of stakeholders to address core issues concerning the crisis in the state.
He said: “Whatever they have done is for two of them and does not involve the elders and leaders of the party who are aggrieved.”
In addition, a source close to the 12 lawmakers-elect still holed in Abuja told Saturday Telegraph that all the hue and cry about reconciliation was a ruse as both actors “bid themselves bye after the Iyamho visit” and that, “nothing was ever discussed”. According to the source, the members-elect are waiting for President Buhari’s final stand on this matter”. “President Buhari at an event before the screening of his new ministers promised to wade into the crises in Bauchi and Edo states.” (New Telegraph)
