Nigeri’s Super Eagles will host the Samba Boys of Brazil in a friendly match at the ultra-modern 30,000-capacity Akwa Ibom International Stadium, Uyo, on March 29 next year.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, disclosed this minutes ago while delivering a speech at the opening of the stadium. He said he had been mandated to make the announcement by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), assuring that Brazil would field the full complement of its stars for the match, including Neymar.
Akpabio also disclosed that the potentially decisive Morocco 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Nigeria and South Africa would be played at the Uyo Stadium – as confirmed to him by the NFF.
The inauguration of the stadium is scheduled to be performed in the next few minutes by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. An international friendly football match would then follow between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Ghana Black Stars by 6:30 p.m. under floodlight at the magnificient stadium.
