Giwa dares FIFA, sacks Pinnick’s NFF committees

The crisis rocking the country’s football administration took another dimension Friday when the Ambassador Chris Giwa-led faction of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board dissolved all the committees set up by the Amaju Pinnick executive committee and constituted new team to run the different sections of the federation. Pinnick and his team are regognised by world football-governing body FIFA.

The Giwa board took over the NFF secretariat following Thursday’s ruling by a Jos Federal High Court, which ordered the return of the status quo before the September 30 election that brought in the Amaju Pinnick led board in Warri. FIFA frowns at court interference in football activities and has threatened to ban Nigeria over the issue without further warning.

The Chris Giwa-led board, which met at the Mama Mia Hotel in Jos immediately after the court ruling, urged Nigerians to remain calm, saying that all their efforts were to ensure normalcy in Nigerian football administration.

In a communiqué issued by the board at the end of the meeting, the board said it has nullified all decisions taken by the Amaju Pinnick led board whom they accused of usurping the NFF since September 30.

The statement signed by Yahaya Adama also declared as illegal all the appointments made by Pinnick and his team, noting that they have all been dissolved with immediate effect.

The Giwa faction reconstituted the committees, naming Yahaya Adams as the chairman of the match commissioners appointment committee, with Patimidi Tukura, Prof. Abu Malam, D. I Mbaezue, as members, while Emmanuel Adesanya would act as the secretary.

The new referees committee has Suleiman Muazu as its chairman, with Sunday Audi, Ahmed Maude and Chidi Offor, as members, while Sunday Okai is the secretary.

Iyke Igbokwe heads the disciplinary committee, which has Abdulkareem Ibrahim, and Andrew Abba as members, while Lawrence Katken is the secretary.

The appeals committee has Leye Adepoju, as chairman, with Godwin Odekina, Ray Nnaji as members and Okey Obi as secretary.

The Pinnink-led board on Thursday appealed and canvassed a stay of execution of the judgment of the Jos High Court, claiming that it had no jurisdiction to entertain the case in the first place.
