The on-going National Conference in Abuja has been extended by four weeks, the Chairman, retired Justice Idris Kutigi, announced during plenary today.
He said that the Conference leadership had requested six weeks extension to enable the delegates do a good job but President Goodluck Jonathan granted only four more weeks.
The conference started March 17 and was programmed to end on June 19.
News Express and some other papers had on May 1 reported that the Conference had been extended based on a new work plan released to delegates on April 30 which indicated that it would now end on July 31.
The Conference leadership, however, denied the report, saying it had not applied for any time extension.
