The Nigerian Government this afternoon swiftly rejected the condition set by Boko Haram terrorists for the release of the over 200 teenage girls it abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, in the night of April 14.

Boko Haram Abubakar Shekau had in a video released earlier today by French news agency, Agence France-Presse requested that his arrested comrades be exchanged for the girls whose kidnapping from their hostel has sparked global outrage.

Making known the government’s position, Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro dismissed the offer, saying a “capital NO” to Boko Haram’s condition.

The 27-minute footage by Boko Haram shows some of the kidnapped girls in Muslim headdresses, with Shekau declaring that they have converted to Islam.

The video shows girls dressed in black and gray hijabs and reciting the Quran as they make Islamic declarations of faith. Shekau appears in a separate part of the video, but never with the girls.

“Praise be to Allah, the lord of the world,” the girls can be heard chanting in the video.

Nigeria has invited world powers such as the United States, Britain, France, China and Israel to come to its rescue and help free the girls, who are being held in an undisclosed location suspected to be Sambisa forest in the troubled north-eastern state of Borno.
