Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State, in whose domain over 200 teenagers were kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists on April 14, has disclosed that he knows where the girls are being kept.
“The governor of Nigeria’s Borno state says he has information on the whereabouts of about 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by Islamist group Boko Haram,” according to a BBC report.
“Governor Kashim Shettima said he had passed reports of the sightings of the girls to the military for verification,” the report adds.
The abduction of the girls from their school hostel at Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, has outraged the world and sparked global protests.
After dilly dallying for three weeks, President Goodluck Jonathan last week finally accepted international help to rescue the girls. Soldiers and security experts from countries such as the United States, Britain, China, France and Israel are either already in the country or expected to arrive within days to help in looking for the girls with a view to rescuing them.
