A mysterious pot at the Benue State Government House round-about in Makurdi yesterday caused panic amongst staff and security personnel, a report from the area has said.
The pot was seen as early as 4am but was believed to have been kept there during the wee hours of the day, according to Peoples Daily.
“It was learnt that government house security men stationed close to the round-about, on sighting the pot, moved away from their original place just as staff of government house were seen in clusters discussing the pot,” the paper said.
Going by the contents, the pot was apparently left by a juju man.
According to Peoples Daily, “The presence of the mysterious pot which contained palm oil, pork and something that looked like red kola nut is said to have sent shivers down the spines of the governor’s personal aides who refused to come out from office when the news of the strange pot reached them.
“It was not clear if the strange occurrence which is the first since the creation of the state in 1976 is connected to the 2015 governorship race but sources close to the aspirants said each of them have been putting pressure on the governor to anoint him.
”Benue faced crisis of Tiv/Agatu farmers and Fulani herdsmen for over three years before it subsided as a result of intervention by security agencies as well as the various committees set up by the state government.
“The mysterious pot has appeared at the Government House round-about at the time various political office seekers have returned to the trenches.”
