Miami-based OnlyFans model, Courtney Clenney, has entered a guilty plea in the death of her Nigerian partner, Christian Obumseli, who was fatally stabbed in their Edgewater condominium in April 2022.

Clenney appeared in court on Monday in Miami, where she had been facing a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of the 27-year-old Obumseli.

Following the Courtney Clenney guilty plea, the court sentenced her to six years in prison, with credit for time already served.

She was also ordered to spend five years on probation after her release and to undergo a mental health evaluation and therapy.

The case stems from an incident that occurred in the couple’s Edgewater condo in Miami. Prosecutors had accused Clenney of fatally stabbing Obumseli during an altercation.

During the hearing, Obumseli’s mother addressed the court and spoke about the impact of her son’s death on the family.

“Nothing can describe what it feels like for a mother to stand at the grave of her child. There are some things that will never happen to me now that he is gone. The birthdays and holidays we will not celebrate with him, the conversations we will never have, the person he will grow into- those losses will go well beyond today’s court case,” she said.

The sentence was handed down after Clenney admitted responsibility through the guilty plea, bringing a major development in a case that has drawn attention in both the United States and Nigeria. (Nigerian Tribune)
