Update: 50 feared killed, 100 injured in Abuja bomb explosion

About 50 persons are feared dead and over 100 injured in this morning’s bomb explosion in Nyanyan, near Abacha Barracks, Abuja, capital city of Nigeria.

An eyewitness said: “Heavy explosion in Nyanya Abuja, we thank God as we have escaped the bomb blast. Heavy casualties. So far more than 50 dead. Hundred wounded.”

News Express had hours ago reported that scores of people had been killed and many injured in an explosion around the bus terminal under the bridge in Nyanya, close to Sani Abacha Barracks in Abuja.

Eyewitnesses say the incident occurred around 7am when a vehicle laden with Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded in the busy bus stop where commuters board government-operated luxury buses.

The Nigerian Government is yet to comment on the incident.
