Actor Ikechukwu Nweke
Actor and director Ikechukwu Nweke has appealed to the public for financial assistance as he continues treatment for colon cancer.
In an Instagram post titled My Cancer Journey, Nweke disclosed that he has spent more than ₦15 million on medical care over the past few months.
According to him, the treatment has involved chemotherapy, radiotherapy, multiple scans, medical tests and prolonged hospital stays, making the experience physically and emotionally challenging.
The actor expressed gratitude to his family for their sacrifices and acknowledged the support of colleagues, including Destiny Etiko, Ebele Okaro, Lizzy Gold and Uche Nancy, for standing by him financially, emotionally and spiritually.
Nweke said his doctors have advised him to begin the next phase of treatment immediately to improve his chances of full recovery, but noted that the financial burden has become overwhelming.
He appealed to members of the public for donations, prayers and support to enable him continue his treatment.
“For months now, I have been fighting cancer with everything I have. It has been a painful journey filled with countless hospital visits, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, tests, scans, medications and emotional battles.
“So far, over ₦15 million has been spent on my treatment. My family has sacrificed beyond words, and I remain deeply grateful to everyone who has stood by me.
“Unfortunately, my battle is not over yet. My doctors have advised that I must continue with the next phase of my treatment to give me the best chance of a full recovery. I cannot afford to stop or skip this stage, but the financial burden has become overwhelming.
“Today, I am humbly asking for your help. No amount is too small. Your support, your prayers and even sharing this video can make a real difference in my fight for life. I believe that with God’s mercy and the kindness of people, I will overcome this,” he wrote. (The Nation)
