The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) today demanded an unreserved apology from the Nigeria Police Force or be prepared for a legal battle over the allegation that its members were involved in the recent attack on the Enugu State Government House.
According to the group, the decision of the police to parade some people and dub them MASSOB members without proper investigation was an act of cowardice.
In a statement made available to journalists in Awka, the Anambra State capital, by Mrs. Augustina Ugwoke who claimed to be the Enugu East zonal administrator MASSOB, she pointed out that none of those paraded are MASSOB members.
The statement which was entitled “Apologize now or get sued –MASSOB” reads: “MASSOB, for the last time, demands an unreserved open apology from Enugu State police command for the gross abuse, disrespect of our image and social status.
“And if this does not happen, we will sue them for defamation, false information and public deceit.
“Their description of the invaders as MASSOB members is done out of hatred. MASSOB is a well respected organisation in Igbo land and our social status is well recognized and appreciated.
“The antics of the police can never deter us from our self determination of Biafran emancipation.”
