A Nigerian Navy vessel is reported to be in distress in the Escravous and in urgent need of assistance.

A concerned Nigerian in the area who made a frantic call to News Express some minutes ago, said: “This is an SOS. Please alert the authorities to hasten to rescue NNS WAMBA, which ran aground and has been stranded at the Escravous River Bar since late yesterday. We are fearing for the worse because the light in the vessel has gone out, meaning that the generator may have stopped working.”

The caller claimed that they had alerted workers at the Chevron facility in the Escravous and wondered why they were foot-dragging in going to rescue the vessel and its crew.
