Nnamdi Azikiwe University loses pioneer Vice-Chancellor

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, has lost its foundation Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Festus Aghagbo Nwako.

Prof. Nwako left his imprint as the university’s pioneer VC and has been immortalised by the naming of the school’s digital library after him.

A notice of his death posted on some Yahoo! communities said his burial has been fixed for March 7, 2014 at his country home, Abagana.

The cause and day of his death were not given in the death notice which described the late Emeritus Professor of Surgery in the university known variously as NAU and UNIZIK as the doyen of the medical profession in Nigeria.
