Any moment from now, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will formally announce the winner of last weekend’s governorship election in Anambra State, South-East Nigeria.
The Chief Returning Officer, Prof. James Epoke, Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, started announcing the results around 1am. He has finished announcing the local government results and the figures are being added up to give the final figure with a view to declaring the winner.
Unofficial results showed Chief Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) taking a strong lead over his main challengers, Senator Chris Ngige of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Comrade Tony Nwoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
