The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuemeka Onukogu, has come down hard on All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Anambra governorship election, Senator Chris Ngige, who has been accusing the commission of bias after losing the ballot.
Replying Ngige during an interview on Sahara TV, Prof. Onukogu dismissed him as “one man who would want to manipulate the system.”
He further described the APC flag bearer as ‘insincere,’ for claiming that the governorship election that took place in the state yesterday was marked by a low turnout of voters.
“Apart from the fact that Chris himself is not sincere, Chris is one man who would want to manipulate the system,” Prof. Onukogu stated. He described Anambra as “one state in the country where moneybags hijack the electoral system and try to manipulate the electoral system to suit themselves.”
The resident electoral commissioner lauded the level of participation of voters in the exercise, pointing out that the turnout was far better than that of year 2011.
