Heavyweight Derek Chisora has predicted fireworks when Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua meet in Cardiff on December 11, insisting the fight has not come too late.
The fight will take place at the Principality Stadium and be streamed on Netflix.
Fury is 38 while Joshua is 37, and many observers feel the bout should have happened years ago.
Chisora disagrees. The 42-year-old lost to Fury three times and is yet to fully commit to retirement after his April defeat to Deontay Wilder. He said he has stayed in touch with Joshua throughout his preparations.
“I speak to him every Friday after his week of training camp,” Chisora told talkSPORT.
“I send him a message asking him how it was, and he says he is killing it. Whatever happens, it is going to be an exciting fight.”
He added, “I am so excited about it. We are not getting it too late; it is at the right time.”
Joshua goes in as the underdog. He beat Jake Paul in the sixth round in December 2025 and stopped Kristian Prenga in July after being floored in the first round. Neither performance matched his peak.
Chisora, however, believes his power remains.
“AJ has to knock him out in the first six rounds. After that, it is a long night, but AJ has the power to knock out Tyson any round,” he said.
He expects Fury to counter by raising the tempo.
“He has the endurance to sustain it for 12 rounds, and throw a higher volume of punches,” Chisora said. (PUNCH)
