The Kwara State Police Command has rescued one of four family members abducted by suspected kidnappers in Abangbe Dilu community, Ilorin East Local Government Area of the state.
Three other victims are still in captivity in the kidnappers’ den.
The victims were identified as Hajia Mansurat Musa, her son, Ramadan Musa, Semiu Ahmed and Sofia Ahmed.
The Magaji of Abangbe Dilu community, Ilorin East, Alhaji Jamiu Akanni, appealed to the Federal Government, the Kwara State Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of the remaining victims.
In an appeal on behalf of the community, Akanni said the abduction had heightened fear among residents, relatives and other members of the community, who were anxiously awaiting the safe return of the victims.
He urged security agencies to deploy the necessary resources, pursue credible leads and strengthen surveillance to ensure the remaining abductees were rescued.
The community also called on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to work with federal security agencies, local authorities and community leaders to coordinate efforts towards securing their release.
It further appealed for improved security measures and sustained operations to prevent further abductions and restore confidence among residents.
The community urged members of the public with credible information that could assist the rescue operation to report to the appropriate security authorities.
Confirming the incident to Daily Trust on Monday, the state Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, said one of the victims had been rescued, while the remaining three were still being held by the kidnappers.
He, however, said security operatives were closing in on the abductors and would sustain the operation until all the victims were released.
“It happened a few days ago. We are closing in on the kidnappers and we will continue until we get the victims released,” Ojo said. (Daily Trust)
