Gallant troops of Operation Enduring Peace
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have rescued two female farmers who sustained machete cuts following an alleged attack by suspected Fulani herders in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 9:00 p.m. on Oct. 28, 2026, along a road in Kutaru Village, when the victims were reportedly attacked while returning from their farm.
The victims were identified as Mrs Gode Yusuf, 62, and Mrs Amanda Yusuf, 41.
According to the sources, troops of Sector 8, Sub-Sector 82, deployed at Tafawa Balewa, responded to a distress report about the attack.
Upon arrival at the scene, the troops reportedly rescued the two women, who were found bearing machete cuts.
The suspected attackers were said to have fled before the arrival of the troops.
The victims were subsequently rushed to the General Hospital, Tafawa Balewa, where they are receiving medical treatment and responding to care.
Security sources said efforts were ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects for necessary action.
The incident highlights ongoing security concerns involving farmers and herders in parts of Bauchi State, amid efforts by security agencies to protect residents and prevent further attacks.
Authorities have continued to intensify operations to address criminal activities and ensure the safety of communities across the region. (Zagazola)
