Two suspected area boys have died after stabbing each other during a fight over money at Ogunpa, Ibadan, Oyo, on Monday.

Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident, saying the remains of the deceased had been evacuated to a hospital mortuary.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 12:45 pm after the two men reportedly disagreed over how to share money given to them.

The disagreement allegedly escalated into a fight, with both men armed with knives reportedly taken from a trader’s shop.

One of the men allegedly stabbed the other in the neck, killing him on the spot, while the other sustained a knife injury to his right wrist.

The injured man was reportedly rushed to Naomi Hospital in the Oke Padre area but died from excessive blood loss before receiving effective medical attention.

Although the exact cause of the dispute had yet to be established, accounts circulating in the area suggested that the fight stemmed from allegations that one of the men wanted a larger share of the money.

The Incident reportedly prompted police officers in Iyaganku Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, to visit the scene and the hospital, from where the bodies were evacuated. (Nigerian Tribune)
