Bauchi State Police Commissioner, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old car wash worker, Sallau Inuwa, for allegedly stabbing his colleague to death following an argument over car wash proceeds.
The command’s spokesman, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a Friday statement.
According to the statement, the incident occurred at about 8:30am on Thursday, October 22., at a car wash in Bauchi Metropolis.
The police said an argument ensued between the suspect, popularly known as ‘Liman Katagum’, and one Ibrahim, 45, over the tag price per vehicle washed.
In the heat of the argument, Inuwa allegedly picked a sharp knife and stabbed the victim several times.
Ibrahim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi, where he was confirmed dead.
Upon receiving the report, operatives of ‘A’ Division swung into action.
The police spokesman said credible information revealed that the suspect had fled to his paternal home in Liman Katagum area.
Habib added that the DPO of Liman Katagum Division was alerted and the suspect was arrested at Mararraban Liman Katagum.
The suspect is currently in custody and investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi for diligent prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed deep concern over the incident, noting that a minor misunderstanding over money led to the loss of life.
The CP condoled with the family of the deceased and urged members of the public to manage their anger and resolve disputes through dialogue and lawful means rather than resorting to violence.
He reiterated that no matter the level of provocation, taking a life can never be justified. (The Sun)
