Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited (Renaissance) has been named the winner of the Legal Company of the Year 2026, in recognition of the company’s outstanding performance in corporate governance.
The announcement was made at the just concluded 2026 annual conference of the African Corporate and Government Counsel Forum (ACGC) held in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
According to ACGC, the emergence of Renaissance was as a result of the company’s ‘outstanding commitment to legal excellence, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, risk management and the delivery of strategic legal support that enables business growth and operational success across its operations.’
Commenting on the recognition, Tony Attah, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Renaissance Africa Energy Company, said: “The award reflects the exceptional professionalism, expertise, and dedication of our Legal team, whose counsel and partnership continue to play a critical role in advancing our strategic objectives. As Renaissance pursues its growth ambitions across Africa’s energy sector, we remain committed to the highest standards of governance, ethics, and regulatory excellence.”
Attah dedicated the award to the joint venture partners, the shareholders and the entire workforce, for their collaboration support.
The managing director commended the company’s legal team for their ‘significant contributions to major business transactions, strengthening governance frameworks, managing complex regulatory engagements, and ensuring compliance across the company’s operations.
Speaking on behalf of the Legal team, Vice President, Legal, Ikechukwu Ekwueme, described the award as a challenge to the legal team to strengthen its support to Renaissance’s vision and growth journey while ensuring that ‘integrity, compliance and sound governance remain at the heart of everything we do.’
The ACGC awards celebrate legal teams and practitioners who demonstrate excellence, innovation, and leadership in advancing corporate legal practice and governance standards across Africa.
