An 18-tyre truck conveying 22 tonnes of load on Friday morning overturned on Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, partially obstructing traffic.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) disclosed this in an incident report posted on X at 7:30 am.
According to LASTMA, the Mack truck had its chassis damaged, causing the laden truck to overturn and occupy one lane on Kara Bridge inward OPIC, outward Lagos.
No casualty was recorded in the incident.
LASTMA said safety measures have been put in place and a Hiab tow truck has been activated for evacuation, adding that two lanes have been left for other road users while recovery is still ongoing.
The incident comes hours after a 40-foot containerised truck overturned on Otedola Bridge, inward the Old Toll Gate, after its turntable disconnected from the tractor head, thereby posing serious danger to motorists plying Berger towards the toll gate.
As a result of the incident, traffic was partially restricted from Berger inward the Old Toll Gate, and motorists were advised to exercise caution and comply with traffic management directives.
In an update at 4:49am, LASTMA disclosed that the accidented truck including the container had been successfully evacuated and free flow of traffic restored. (The Sun)
