A Kano magistrate’s court has remanded a man, Musa Umar, in a correctional facility over his alleged involvement in the killing of Saminu Haruna Tudun Bojuwa following a dispute over motorcycles.
The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate Hauwa Abba Musa of Magistrates’ Court No. 27, Nomansland, Kano, on charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.
The prosecutor, Barrister H. M. Ado, told the court that a fresh charge had been filed and requested that it be read to the defendant.
The court subsequently directed its clerk, Muhammad Tudun Wada, to read the charges to him.
Following the arraignment, the court ordered the defendant’s remand in a correctional facility and adjourned the case until November 3, 2026, for further proceedings.
The defendant was alleged to have conspired with another person, who was not before the court, to stab the deceased with a knife, leading to his death.
The alleged incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over the sharing of motorcycles donated by a politician to some individuals.
The suspects were said to have disagreed after claiming that the motorcycle was jointly given to them. (Daily Trust)
