Gov Umaru-Bago
By NAOMI ISHAKU-BUGO
Gov. Mohammed Umaru-Bago of Niger says there is no colony of any terrorist group in the state.
Bago disclosed this on Friday during an interview with newsmen shortly after receiving a delegation from the Niger Development Forum on a courtesy visit at the State’s liaison office in Abuja.
The forum is chaired by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris.
The governor acknowledged that there are parts of the state that are being attacked by terrorists who come in from some border states to terrorise the people.
“I can tell you that we don’t have any ungoverned space in Niger State. We have places that are being terrorised, that’s a fact. There is no colony of any terrorist or Boko Haram in Niger State.
Bago said his administration was strengthening collaboration with the Federal Government to ensure security of lives and livelihoods across the state.
“I can reassure you that efforts are being done assiduously. We have a lot of deployments.
“We have a lot of collaborations with the Federal Government, and soon we are going to have a very peaceful Niger and Nigeria.” (NAN)
