Troops of 109 Special Forces Battalion, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a suspected high-profile terrorist in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect, identified as Madumaki Modugai, was tracked and apprehended at about 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 5, 2026, in Magumeri town following intelligence-led operations.

The suspect was said to have sneaked into the town, triggering panic and tension among residents who became apprehensive over his presence.

His arrest, however, helped to calm the situation and restore confidence among the locals.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspect had allegedly been operating around the fringes of the Lake Chad region and Niger Republic.

Residents and local vigilantes also reportedly told security personnel that the suspect had been involved in terrorist-related activities for about four years.

The suspect remains in military custody for further interrogation and necessary action, while security agencies are expected to investigate his activities, movements and possible links with terrorist networks operating around the Lake Chad basin. (Zagazola)
