At least 781 migrants crossed the English Channel to reach the UK on Wednesday, the highest single-day total recorded this year, according to Home Office data released Thursday.
Data showed the migrants arrived in 10 small boats.
The new arrivals surpassed the previous record for 2026, which was recorded on July 29 when 752 people crossed the Channel in nine small boats.
On the figures, the Home Office has said it will "push further and harder" to prevent small boat crossings, Sky News reported.
In December 2025, 803 people arrived in the UK in 13 small boats.
However, despite the continued arrivals, overall Channel crossings have declined this year.
More than 18,500 migrants have crossed the Channel so far this year, down 45% from the same period in 2025. (BBC)
