Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Patrick Daaor
The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 52-year-old man, Daniel Erumudonmoh Okhuilegbe, who was engaged as a home lesson teacher, over the alleged defilement of a teenage girl he was hired to tutor.
The police said the suspect was arrested after the victim’s parents reported the incident.
Also arrested was a 29-year-old man, Samson Amachie, for allegedly having unlawful sexual intercourse with an 11-year-old girl.
He was alleged to have lured the child to an uncompleted building behind his shop, where he had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
In Okpella, one Otaru Jonathan was arrested for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.
The suspect reportedly took the girl on a motorcycle to an uncompleted building at Afokpella, where he allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with her before giving her N2,000.
It said the survivor was taken to hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
On August 14, 2026, a 21-year-old man, Innocent Emmanuel, allegedly defiled an eight-year-old girl.
The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Patrick Daaor, said some of the suspects had been remanded in custody.
Daaor said the suspects were arrested during operations carried out in August 2026.
The Commissioner also disclosed that two suspected members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate, Mohammed Hamisu, 22, and Saidu Bebe, 23, were arrested in Okada, Ovia North-East Local Government Area.
He said the suspects led operatives to a forest bordering Abudu in Edo State and Obiaruku in Delta State, where three AK-pattern rifles, two magazines, 58 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition and an additional magazine were recovered.
