The Federal Government has released a scorecard detailing 11 major economic reforms carried out since the President Bola Tinubu administration came into office in 2023.
The scorecard highlights key policy measures introduced by the government to address longstanding economic challenges, strengthen public finances and reposition the Nigerian economy.
Among the reforms highlighted are changes to fuel subsidy policy, foreign exchange management, taxation and fiscal administration, alongside measures aimed at boosting government revenue and attracting investment.
The government said the reforms were necessary to correct structural weaknesses in the economy and place Nigeria on a more sustainable growth path.
The release of the scorecard comes as the administration seeks to demonstrate the impact of its economic policies and respond to concerns over the effect of the reforms on businesses and households.
The Federal Government has maintained that, despite the immediate challenges associated with some of the measures, the reforms are designed to deliver stronger economic fundamentals and long-term stability.
The 11-point scorecard offers the administration’s latest assessment of its economic policy performance since 2023. (Guardian)
