The Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has given a marching order for the commencement of promotion exercise for the state civil/public servants across the cadres in the state, applauded for their resilient, dedication, and commitment for its achievement recorded in the state for the past seven years.

Abiodun, represented by his deputy, Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, stated this at the Grand Finale/Symposium in the commemoration of the 2026 public service day, themed; “Transforming The Public Service: Advancing Innovation, Accountability, Participation and Inclusion, held at Moshood Abiola Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta Ogun state.

Abiodun who attributed his achievements to the contributions of public servants in all cadres, noting that they were all dedicated to duty and service to humanity, noting that the transformation might not be possible if not the immense contributions of public/civil servants of the state.

He noted that public service remains central to the state’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic development, noting that road construction, industrial expansion to educational reforms and healthcare delivery, thus, public servants translate the policies and programmes of government into tangible outcomes for the people.

“As Margaret Chase Smith once said, public service must be more than doing q job efficiently and honestly. It must be a complete dedication to the people and to the nation, and the sense of responsibility must continue to guide us,” Abiodun said.

In his opening speech, the Head Of Service, Olanrewaju Saka, said that the public service remains the engine room of government, noting that administration may change, but the public service provides continuity, preserve institutional memory, and ensure the effective implementation of government policies and programmes.

He noted that transforming the public service no longer an option, hence, a strategic necessity for building a prosperous, competitive, and inclusive the state, saying that theme of this year’s celebration, reflected the realities of modern governance and the imperative for continuous reform in the delivery of public services.

The HoS later applauded the administration-led by the Governor for the continued chart of progressive path anchored on digital governance, far-reaching institutional reforms, robust human capital development, and sustained capacity building, noting that Governor meant meaningful well for the welfare of the public servants in the state.

“Indeed, we have witnessed remarkable institutional milestones that have redefined standards and elevated performance across the public service, strategic investments in leadership and capacity development, such as executive retreats on Artificial Intelligence, and digital governance, and many more,” Hos said.

In her goodwill message, the former Head of Service, Mrs. Iyabo Odulate urged the civil servants in the state to continue the good work in promoting the dignity, and renewed efforts to the public service, saying they were always making the state proud in the comity of states in the country.

“In fact, it is imperative to equip yourself in the leadership of the civil service of the state, especially in the comity of the states, and making yourself available at all times of needs, hence, shouldn’t be found wanting whenever the needs arise, I always proud of you as fomer Head of Service of the state,” Odulate said.
