TUC President, Festus Osifo
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has called for the removal of trade barriers preventing the free movement of refined petroleum products from Nigeria to other African countries.
PENGASSAN President, Festus Osifo, made the call in Abuja, arguing that allowing Dangote Refinery and other Nigerian refineries to freely supply fuel across the continent would strengthen Africa’s energy security.
He said reducing taxes and duties on regional fuel trade would encourage more investment in refining and create stronger competition, which could ultimately help drive down petroleum product prices.
The call comes as stakeholders push for a more integrated West African fuel market and a regional benchmark for petroleum product pricing. (The Guardian)
