Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo
The Federal Government has deployed a special Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) team to the United Kingdom as part of efforts to clear the backlog of passport applications.
The team, dispatched on the directive of Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is expected to begin operations on Monday in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission.
The NIS said the team will conduct passport enrolment and processing exercises across selected cities in the UK.
The intervention will cover Nigerians with pending applications, first-time applicants and those seeking to renew passports with less than one year remaining before expiry.
Applicants are required to present their completed application forms and evidence of payment during the enrolment process.
The immigration service said a detailed schedule outlining the cities, dates, venues and enrolment times will be released ahead of the exercise.
It advised applicants not to visit any location until the official schedule is announced.
The NIS also urged Nigerians in the UK to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission for updates and further instructions. (Arise News)
