MTN Nigeria has cautioned its customers against fake offers claiming to provide a 25GB data giveaway as part of the telecommunications company’s anniversary celebration.
The warning was Issued by MTN Nigeria through its support account on X on Saturday, as the company urged subscribers to access the promotion only through its authorised platforms.
MTN advised customers not to click on suspicious links, disclose personal information or make payments on websites and platforms claiming to offer the anniversary data bundle.
According to the telecommunications company, the genuine 25GB anniversary giveaway can only be accessed through the MyMTN NG App and the MTN eShop.
In the post, the company said, “Please beware of fake MTN 25th Anniversary 25GB giveaway offers circulating online.
“The official MTN 25GB Anniversary Giveaway is available ONLY via the MyMTN NG App and MTN eShop.
“Do not click on links, share your personal information or make payments on any other platform claiming to offer the giveaway.
“Only trust official MTN channels.”
MTN also provided details on how subscribers who qualify for the promotion can redeem the data offer.
The company said, “Log in to the MyMTN App and tap ‘Redeem Now’ on the anniversary banner or via the MTN eShop.
“To access the 25GB offer, kindly visit the MyMTN App or the MTN E-Shop and follow the prompts to activate the bundle, if you are eligible for the offer.
“You may also click on the link contained in the SMS notification you received regarding the offer.”
The company further urged subscribers to verify anniversary-related information through its official communication channels before attempting to redeem the promotion.
MTN added that the 25GB free data bundle would remain available until 11:59pm on the stated expiry date, advising eligible subscribers to redeem it before the offer expires.
The warning followed the spread of online posts and links falsely presenting free MTN data as part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebration.
Subscribers were consequently advised to stay away from unauthorised platforms that request personal information, payments or other details in exchange for the purported giveaway. (Sunday Tribune)
