Governor Bala Mohammed
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has directed security agencies to intensify efforts to clamp down on criminal activities across the state.
Speaking during a State Security Council meeting convened on Thursday, the governor highlighted emerging security threats and instructed security agencies to replicate the recent successes recorded in the Alkaleri Local Government Area in other communities facing similar threats.
Governor Mohammed also reminded traditional rulers of their critical role in safeguarding their communities, particularly by monitoring seasonal migrations to prevent the infiltration of criminal elements into the state.
He warned that any traditional ruler found illegally allocating land to suspicious individuals or granting unauthorized access to community mining activities would face appropriate legal sanctions
“Any traditional ruler found allocating land illegally to questionable characters or granting unauthorized community mining access will face the full wrath of the law. Likewise, anyone harboring suspected criminals or failing to report suspicious elements to security agencies will be held accountable,” the governor said.
He issued a further warning, stating:
“Let it be clear: silence in the face of crime amounts to an endorsement of it. Therefore, it will not be tolerated.”
The governor also urged the Nigerian Army to construct more bridges in communities such as Bogoro and Azare to improve security operations and accessibility. He further called on the Nigeria Police Force to establish additional police stations, particularly in underserved areas of the state. (Channels)
